The defendant, David Figueroa, was convicted by a jury in the Superior Court of trafficking in 38.5 grams of heroin. The heroin was discovered in the defendant’s automobile during a roadside .inventory search conducted by the Massachusetts State police. Following an evidentiary hearing prior to trial, a judge of the Superior Court denied the defendant’s motion to suppress the seized evidence. Following his conviction, the defendant appealed.
