Laverne Scory (who was twenty years of age in 1932, and will hereinafter be called the plaintiff) was injured at about 8 p. m. on April 8, 1932, when she was struck by a south-bound automobile, operated by the defendant Russell Swanson, while she was standing on the west shoulder of the highway, near the left rear side of an automobile, which had been left there, facing north, by the defendant, Mrs. Blanche LaFave.
