This is an appeal from a judgment of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, pursuant to a jury verdict, awarding damages to the plaintiff in the amount of $25,000.00. The action was brought under the Federal Employers’ Liability Act, 45 U.S.C.A. §§ 51-60, on behalf of the surviving widow and one adult son, to recover damages for the death of the plaintiff’s decedent, arising out of a contact between the decedent and an iron standpipe located adjacent to the defendant’s railroad siding, while the decedent was acting in the course of his…
