This is an appeal from a trial court's dismissal of a complaint alleging age discrimination. We accepted certification from Division One of the Court of Appeals and affirm the judgment of dismissal.

The essential facts are not in dispute. Appellant Gross has on three occasions submitted an application to respondents City of Lynnwood and Lynnwood Civil Service Commission for the position of fire fighter.
