MELLOTT, District Judge.

This is an action for infringement of a patent. The patent claims a method of joining drill pipe sections to tool joint members by means of a weld laid in a bevel, or counter-bore, cut in the shoulder of a tool joint. The equipment referred to is used in oil well drilling operations. Drill pipe *614is customarily manufactured in thirty foot lengths, the most common being about four and one-half inches in diameter. The tool joint is designed to serve as a coupling for drill pipe sections, which, when assembled, produce a “drill-string” or “drill-stem” of indefinite length…
