We consider, once again, the intricacies of under-insured motorist insurance coverage. The material facts are not in dispute. On May 6, 1999, Katherine Mercadante sustained serious injuries in a motor vehicle accident caused by Cynthia Steele, who was insured under a policy issued by Middlesex Insurance Company (Middlesex Insurance) that provided bodily *294injury liability coverage limits of $20,000 per person and $40,000 per accident.
