Registered nurse Mary Ann Ashcroft sued Mt. Sinai Hospital and Mary Holton for false imprisonment, defamation, tortious interference with contract and other “advantageous economic relations,” as well as intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress. These claims arise from Ashcroft’s detention by a Mt. Sinai Hospital security guard for suspected shoplifting from the hospital gift shop. Upon the defendants’ motion, the trial court entered summary judgment for the hospital and Holton on all claims. In a timely appeal, Ashcroft challenges the ruling. Our review…
