Defendant, Clayton Jordan, was charged by indictment with murder (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1987, ch. 38, par. 9 — 1(a)(1)), aggravated criminal sexual assault (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1987, ch. 38, par. 12— 14(a)(2)), intimidation (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1987, ch. 38, par. 12 — 6(a)(1)), and concealment of a homicidal death (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1987, ch. 38, par. 9 — 3.1).
