Following a jury trial, the defendant, Thomas West, was convicted of two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1989, ch. 38, par. 12 — 16(c)(l)(i)) and was sentenced to serve a term of three years’ imprisonment in the Department of Corrections.
