OPINION

STRINGER, Justice.

This matter involves the competing adoption petitions of the foster parents and the biological relatives of the minor children C.H. and A.H.. After a seven-day trial, the district court concluded that it was in the best interests of the children to grant the adoption petition of the foster parents subject to visitation rights in favor of the children’s relatives — an arrangement commonly referred to as an “open adoption.” 1 The court of appeals reversed the trial court and ordered that the adoption petition of the relatives be granted, determining that the trial court…
