Appellant Miguel Rodriguez-Gonzales (defendant) was indicted on March 31,1987, on three counts of attempted murder in the first degree; one count of second degree escape; and one count of resisting arrest. Prior to trial, the state filed allegations of prior convictions. Defendant’s jury trial ended on August 17, 1987, with guilty verdicts on three counts of attempted murder and the resisting arrest count. The jury acquitted him on the escape charge.
