The principal issue in this certified

appeal requires us to answer the question, which was left unanswered in our recent decision in Gershman v. Gershman, 286 Conn. 341, 350-51 n.10, 943 A.2d 1091 (2008), of whether a trial court fashioning financial orders in dissolution cases may consider a party’s preseparation dissipation of marital assets.
