A Craighead County jury convicted appellant Robert Lee Mitchem of attempted rape and kidnapping and sentenced him to a total of twenty years in the Arkansas Department of Correction. Appellant challenges his convictions arguing that the trial court erred in fading to grant his motion for directed verdict on the charge of attempted rape because the evidence was insufficient to prove that appellant took a substantial step toward the commission of the offense of rape.
