HORNBY, Justice.

This case requires us to determine whether the federal Petroleum Marketing Practices Act preempts Maine’s Motor Fuel Distribution and Sales Act when it comes to a distributor’s obligation to give written notice before terminating a franchise agreement. We conclude that in the context of this particular franchise agreement it does not. We also resolve a variety of other issues generated in the course of a six day trial.
