The plaintiff, Philip M. Sunich, brought this action in the circuit court of Madison County against the defendant, the Chicago and North Western Transportation Company, under the Federal Employers’ Liability Act (45 U.S.C. secs. 51 through 60 (1982)). Urging the intrastate application of the doctrine of forum non conveniens, the defendant moved to dismiss the cause or, alternatively, to transfer it to a more convenient forum within Illinois.
