GORMLEY, Chief Judge:

Tried by a general court-martial constituted of military judge alone, appellant, contrary to his pleas, was convicted of a 14-day unauthorized absence and four specifications of possessing and distributing the controlled substance methamphetamine, in violation of Articles 86 and 134, respectively, Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ), 10 U.S.C. §§ 886 and 934. He was sentenced to a dishonorable discharge, confinement at hard labor for five years, forfeitures of $400.00 pay per month for six months, and reduction to pay grade E-l.
