This bill is by the wife against the husband for alimony, without divorce. Courts of equity grant relief in such cases, independent of statute, on equitable principles, to enforce the duty of the husband to support and maintain the wife, when he is at fault and refuses to provide for her in the home, or when, because of his misconduct or cruelty, she is compelled to leave him, and in granting such relief the court deals only with his income.
