The plaintiff, Susan Crenshaw, brought this action to recover damages for injuries she received and which were caused, as she alleges, by the negligence of the defendant. At the time of the occurrence she lived on the east side of Bailey Street, in the city of Asheville. The track of the defendant's railway is laid on that street, which at and for some distance on either side of the place of the accident runs north and south.
