In this certified appeal, arising out of a summary process eviction action, we must resolve two issues. First, we must determine whether the defendants’ motion to reargue tolled the statutory appeal period for summary process actions, under General *484Statutes § 47a-35,1 until the trial court’s denial of that motion. We conclude that it did. Second, we must determine whether the defendants’ failure to post a surety bond within five days of the entry of judgment, pursuant to General Statutes § 47a-35a,2 provided a proper basis for dismissal of the defendants’ appeal.
