This is an application for attorneys’ fees under Chapter 93A of the Massachusetts General Laws.

I. BACKGROUND

United Companies Lending Corporation (“United”) makes, sells, and services first lien residential mortgage loans that are used primarily for debt consolidation, home improvement, or major household purchases. In 1995, Daisy F. Sargeant (“Sargeant”) obtained a loan from United.
