PRYOR, Associate Judge:

By a twenty-nine count indictment filed in August 1981, appellant was charged with multiple offenses stemming from seven incidents which occurred between July 1980 and April 1981 in upper Northwest Washington. Appellant moved in timely fashion to assign each count a separate trial; instead, the trial court joined the counts so as to provide two separate trials. 1 A jury convicted appellant, at his first trial, of two counts of second-degree burglary, 2 D.C.
