Plaintiff Christopher Lawton brought this action in state court against his employer, United Parcel Service, Inc. (“UPS”), and division manager, AI Sheah-an, seeking damages under Connecticut law for defamation and invasion of privacy by false light. Defendants removed the case pursuant to 28 U.S.C. §§ 1331 and 1441, contending that plaintiffs state law claims are completely preempted by § 301 of the Labor Management Relations Act (“LMRA”), 29 U.S.C. § 185(a).
