Charlotte Anne Newsom (“plaintiff’ or “Ms. Newsom”) filed a petition in the Circuit Court of Shelby County, accusing James McCoy, Sarah McIntyre and their employer, Thalhimer Brothers Inc. (“defendants” or by name) of extortion, intentional infliction of emotional distress and false imprisonment. In a jury trial, at the conclusion of plaintiffs proof the trial court directed a verdict in favor of defendants as to all claims.
