Rees, J.;

Defendant Donald Stockman appeals from a judgment entered against him in the amount of $2,390.17 for property damage sustained by plaintiffs Richard and Greg Walborn when their car collided with Stockman’s cow on a public highway. We reverse.

Plaintiffs brought this action against defendant on what we deem to be three theories of negligence and one of strict liability: (1) negligence of defendant in allowing his cow to run at large in violation of the county herd law, K.S.A. 47-301 through -305, as adopted by Leavenworth County; (2) negligence of defendant, a nonresident cow owner, in…
