RIPPLE, Circuit Judge.

Vester Russell brought this claim pursuant to 42 U.S.C. § 1983, along with a Wisconsin state law claim, against the City of Milwaukee, the Milwaukee Employees’ Retirement System Annuity and Pension Board, and individual defendants (collectively “defendants”). During the pen-dency of the action, Mr. Russell died. The district court then entered two scheduling orders setting forth the time frame in which a substitution of parties was to be filed.
