— James McCoid and Emeline McCoid were husband and wife. They had ten children, among whom was Thomas V. McCoid, the father of S. H. McCoid, one of the plain tiffs. James McCoid owned a small tract of land near the town of Logan, Iowa. He died intestate on the 20th day of April, 1898. His wife, Emeline, by proper procedure elected to take a homestead right in this property. Shortly after the death of James McCoid, Thomas Y. McCoid deeded his share in this property to his mother, — being, of course, a one-tenth interest in the land. The mother died intestate on January 1, 1924, and it is…
