This is an appeal by the defendant from a judgment entered against him in favor of the plaintiff, a minor, in an action to recover damages for personal injuries received in a collision which occurred between an automobile owned by the defendant and a bicycle on which the plaintiff was riding.

The accident occurred on June 26, 1911, in the city of Los Angeles, at the intersection of Clay and West Fourth Streets. Plaintiff had ridden down on the right-hand side of Clay Street, which runs north and south at a grade of about fourteen per cent and has its southern terminus at West Fourth Street. He…
