— On February 2, 1918, respondent, who is a farmer and merchant doing business at Farmer, in Douglas county, in this state, purchased from one L. B. Simons the note involved in this action, which was dated January 19, 1918, due one year after date, for the sum of $1,500, with interest at the rate of eight per cent, payable at maturity, paying therefor $1,375.
