I. INTRODUCTION
This case is a putative class action brought by plaintiff Amy Rothbaum against defendant Samsung Telecommunications America, LLC (“Samsung”). Rothbaum alleges that Samsung knowingly sold its Captivate, Fascinate, Vibrant, and Epic 4G phones (collectively, the “Samsung Phones”) with a design defect that causes the phones to shut down randomly (the “Random Shut Down Defect”).
