After long service as an airplane pilot for General Motors Corporation, plaintiff suffered a severe heart attack on January 17, 1971. Although he recovered, his pilot’s license was permanently suspended as a result of the heart attack. Plaintiff claimed benefits under an extended disability benefit section of a group insurance policy 1 issued by defendant Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for the reason that he is totally disabled to perform his job as an airplane pilot.
