The plaintiff is the father of James Alfred Hyder, an infant who was nine years, six months, and nine days old when he died, January 11, 1935. The 29th day of December, 1934, the plaintiff signed an application to obtain a policy of insurance on the life of his said son in the sum of $1,000.00, of which he was the named beneficiary. When the application was signed, plaintiff paid the agent of the insurance company the sum of $1.86, and the agent gave him a receipt in writing, of which the following is a copy:
