This appeal arises out of an action seeking compensatory damages for wrongful discharge and breach of an employment contract. Plaintiff was employed at Trendline Furniture Company (Trendline) as a traffic manager for their truck fleet. Defendant Cochrane Furniture Company, Inc. (Cochrane) acquired Trendline on 13 October 1989. On 1 January 1990, Cochrane consolidated their own truck fleet with that of Trendline.
