In June, 1917, Albert Maillet entered a plea of guilty to the charge of introducing intoxicating liquors on an Indian reservation, and was sentenced to imprisonment in the county jail of Lewis and Clark county for sixty days and to pay a fine of $100. Immediately after judgment was pronounced, Maillet employed C. A. Spaulding, an attorney engaged in the practice of the law at Helena, to prepare a petition to the President fora pardon.
