This is an action to recover the sum of $186,000, alleged to be due to the plaintiff upon a contract with the defendant,' as commissions on the sales of fire-arms to the Turkish government, effected through his influence. . The defendant pleads the general issue. At the time the transactions occurred, out of which this action has arisen, the plaintiff was consul-general of the Ottoman government at the port of New York.
