In 1984, feminist-activist Sonia Johnson ran for President as the nominee of the Citizens Party. Richard Walton, a Citizens Party founder and foreign policy author, campaigned as her running mate. Ultimately, they qualified for the ballot in nine*374teen states, and finished fifth in the election with .08 percent of the vote.1
