MEMORANDUM OPINION AND ORDER

SPRIZZO, District Judge.

Plaintiff David Echevarria (“Echevar-ria”), an inmate in the custody of the New York State Department of Correctional Services proceeding pro se, brings the instant action pursuant to 42 U.S.C. § 1983. Echevarria alleges that during his incarceration at Riker’s Island Correctional Facility (“Riker’s Island”), prison officials violated his civil rights by failing to protect him from an attack by another inmate.
