On the 1st of March, 1884, the plaintiff’s testator, John Snyder, entered into a lease with the •defendant in error for premises known as No. 226 Washington street, in the city of Newark, New Jersey, for the term of five years from April 1st, 1884. The lease contained a stipulation for a further term of five years, provided notice should be given by the lessee three months before the expiration of the term of the election of the lessee to take a further *179term.
