BROCK, Justice.

Justice Sam L. Felts, a former member of this Court, died in 1977, having retired from the bench on January 1, 1965, after a long and illustrious career as a judge of the Circuit Court, a judge of the Court of Appeals, and a justice of the Supreme Court of Tennessee. This action was brought by the administrator of his estate and by his widow to determine the correct amount of the benefits due to him during his lifetime fol*372lowing retirement and to his widow following his death, under the various applicable statutes.
