Sarah Caulfield instituted this action in assumpsit on March 20, 1939, against the Aetna Life Insurance Company, seeking to recover the sum of $1000, as total and permanent disability benefits, upon a certificate issued to her by the defendant company under a policy of group insurance covering the subscribing employees of the Friends Hospital, in Philadelphia.
