WEST, District Judge.

This civil action is brought by complainant, Louis Creppel, Jr., a seaman, seeking to recover from respondent, J. W. Banta Towing, Inc., the sum of $30,-000 in damages under the provisions of the Jones Act, 46 U.S.C.A. § 688. In the alternative, complainant seeks to recover the same amount under the general maritime law for damages allegedly sustained by him and allegedly resulting from the unseaworthiness of the vessel, M.
