HUNTER, Judge.

George Truitt Walston (“defendant”) appeals his conviction of one count of obtaining property ($10,000.00 in United States currency) by false pretenses (“false pretenses”) in violation of N.C. Gen. Stat. § 14-100. Defendant assigns as error the trial court’s failure to (1) grant his motion to dismiss on the grounds that the State failed to present substantial evidence supporting each essential element of the offense of false pretenses; and (2) allow his motion to dismiss on the grounds that there was a fatal variance between the indictment and the proof at trial.
