MORRISON, J.

This case arises under the so-called “three strikes” legislation (Pen. Code, § 667, subds. (b)-(i); Stats. 1994, ch. 12, §§1-2). In late 1993 defendant entered a plea of guilty to one count of residential burglary (Pen. Code, § 459; all further statutory references are to the Penal Code unless otherwise specified), a serious felony under section 1192.7, subdivision (c)(18).
