Appellant Eugene White (White) appealed the decision of the District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan granting ap-pellees Anchor Motor Freight (Anchor) and Local 580 of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (Local 580) a directed verdict in appellant’s “hybrid” action initiated pursuant to section 301 of the Labor Management Relations Act, 29 U.S.C. § 185(a).1
