Proceeding under article 78 of the Civil Practice Act by neighboring property owners to review a determination of the zoning board of appeals of the Village of Scars-dale granting an area variance to intervener. The application for a variance was made under subdivision (g) of section 154 of the Zoning Ordinance, which provides that the board may, subject to appropriate conditions and safeguards to be prescribed by it, vary the application of the provisions of the ordinance “ in harmony with their general purposes and intent ”.
