The sole issue in this case is whether a creditor may garnish, as a debt owed to the underlying debtor, the proceeds of bank accounts for which, *605prior to the garnishment, the debtor had received teller’s checks made payable to the order of a third person. The plaintiff, the Hospital of Saint Raphael, brought a civil action against Isabel Gonzales, in conjunction with which it obtained a prejudgment order of garnishment.
