This is an .appeal from a judgment awarding a pension to the widow of a member of the Los Angeles Fire Department who died on the 10th day of September, 1940, ■following.an operation for the removal of his appendix.

Bespondent herein is the widow of Charles J. Cordell, who, for a period of about seventeen years immediately preceding his demise, had continuously served as an auto fireman and driver, of a. fire truck, for the Fire Department of the City of Los Angeles.
