Plaintiff sustained the loss of his house and its contents by fire, which occurred August 22, 1924, and on August 28, 1925, he commenced this action against the defendant to recover therefor by virtue of a policy of insurance regularly issued to him. It was the usual form of the Michigan standard policy, which contained the following provision:
“The insured shall give immediate notice in writing to this company of any loss or damage, protect the property from further damage, forthwith separate the damaged and undamaged personal property, put it in the best possible order, make a complete…
