Peter Niland died in the city of Chicago on February 6, 1922, leaving as his heirs his brothers, Patrick and Thomas, and his nieces Anna, Josephine and Agnes, daughters of his deceased brother, John, and his niece Annie and nephews Patrick and John, daughter and sons of his deceased sister, Ellen Kennedy. No will has been found. The niece Annie Kennedy was the housekeeper and office assistant of Niland for twelve years prior to his death.
