After several years of service with the District of Columbia Fire Department, pe titioner was retired for non-service connected disability pursuant to D.C.Code 1973, § 4-526. 1 Petitioner was initially presented to the Police and Firemen’s Retirement and Relief Board (herein “Retirement Board”) on August 19, 1965, but that hearing was terminated without decision to enable peitioner to seek psychiatric treatment.
