This is an appeal from the dismissal of appellant Ray’s complaint and the subsequent denial of his motion for reconsideration. It presents the issue whether the Police and Firefighters Retirement and Disability Act, D.C.Code §§ 4-601 et seq. (1981 & Supp.1987) (“Act”), is the exclusive remedy for a disability retiree who is seeking compensation for injuries alleged as a result of medical services provided by the District of Columbia.
